How Much Chin-Chin to Order for a Party (And How Long It Keeps)
Michael LawansonShare
Two questions come up more than any others when someone's ordering for something bigger than themselves. How much do I actually need. And how long will it sit before it stops tasting like it just came out of the fryer.
How much chin-chin per person
For casual snacking, a rough guide. About 2 to 3 ounces per person if it's one of several snacks on the table, more like 4 to 5 ounces per person if it's the main thing people are reaching for. A 2lb bag runs about 10 to 12 servings at the lighter end.
For events, weddings, corporate gatherings, private dinners, the math changes. People take a little more when it's presented as part of the spread rather than a bag on a counter. Plan closer to 5 to 6 ounces per guest for a seated or cocktail style event.
How long chin-chin actually stays fresh
Sealed and unopened, Mikey's Gourmet Chin-Chin holds for up to six months. That's the whole point of frying it the way it's fried and packing it the way it's packed. Once the bag is open, it won't hold that long. Reseal it tightly and it'll stay good for a couple of weeks, but the crispness starts to soften faster once air gets to it regularly.
For an event, this means you can order well ahead of the date without worrying about freshness on the day. What matters is sealing it back up if it's not going out for service right away.
Ordering for an event
Event and occasion orders require a minimum of 50 packages and a two-week lead time. That's not a sales minimum for the sake of it. It's how the batch schedule works. The same recipe, made the same way, just planned further out so it's ready when the room needs it.
Reach out at orders@mikeysgourmet.com or visit the events page to start planning. For a single order outside of an event, orders close every Thursday at 9pm and ship the following Saturday.
Before it arrives
